Hydraulic Swabbing
In an effort to make swabbing services more versatile,
MGM Well Service designed and built the Hydraulic Rig. Safety,
well control and efficiency were important concerns during the design
of this innovative rig.
By including weight indicators, well pressure gauges,
depthometers, and hydraulic pull controls on our rigs, we are able to combine slick line
and swabbing services in one unit.

| The rig's design allows the swab
operator the ability to bail or chip obstructions from the well bore and fish out collar
stops, plungers or down hole storm chokes. After clearing the well bore, the
operator can swab the well in. The ability to run in the hole while the well is
under pressure allows us to replace any down hole tools necessary. Combining these
services saves our customers time and money. |
Safety Advantages of Hydraulic
- The entire rig-up process can be completed
without leaving the ground.
- Hydraulic pull controls act as a safety valve making it virtually impossible to
accidentally pull the cable in two.
- While working on a sour gas well, the ability to swab down the existing
flow lines, so no poison gas escapes into the atmosphere, creates a
safer working environment.
Time Saving Advantages of Hydraulic
- It is designed to be able to do both slick line work and swab
work.
- The ability to work under pressure allows the operator to immediately re-enter the well
after a swab.
- The entire rig-up process takes just a couple of minutes.
- It is possible to swab a well to the existing gas line, thus eliminating the need for a
swab tank.
